CREATION OF BEAVER COUNTY’S FIRST-EVER STRATEGIC PLAN
Deliverables
Rural Alberta lies at a critical intersection. Populations are shrinking. Infrastructure is aging. The “pickle” – the downward cycle of fewer people paying more for declining quantity and quality of services and amenities – has been set into motion. Just holding on isn’t the answer as it becomes increasingly difficult to position for the future. A community’s quality of life is jeopardized, and even survival is at stake, as working population and families seek other places with better services and amenities at more reasonable tax rates.
Population matters; it lies at the root of achieving new possibilities. How to attract new population becomes the million dollar question, and while the answer is not as simple as waving a magic wand, 13 Ways worked with the County to embrace principles that help a community reach a new and more ambitious destination: 1) Develop Clarity of Vision; 1) Differentiate; 2) Innovate; 3) ACT; 4) Measure Progress.
Results
The Plan aims high and sees the County as a leader in boldly setting course for a new future for rural Alberta. The Plan is currently being implemented.
